The associates and colleagues of A. C. Macris Consultants are actively involved in providing independent assessments of a

wide range of programs and issues that confront today’s corporate management.  These assessments fall into several broad

categories. 

 Technical Assessments

  • Compliance with technical criteria and procedures.

  • Adherence to industry criteria for excellence (e.g., adequacy of training programs versus INPO criteria).

  • Management of internal programs (e.g., execution of Plant Life Extension program versus program plan goals and objectives; compliance with long-term component upgrade and maintenance program).

  • Identification of technical resource shortcomings and solution options.

 Safety Assessments

  • Evaluation of existing safety program.

  • Identification of behavioral patterns that hinder or prevent compliance with safety program.

  • Assessment of effectiveness of safety training.

  • Assessment of effectiveness of safety communication and methods of transmission.

  • Assessment of fleet equipment as pertinent to safety program issues.

  • Investigation of patterns in accidents and patterns in conditions producing accidents.

 Regulatory Assessments

  • Evaluation of managerial system for compliance.

  • Assessment of regulatory interface and program compliance.

  • Determination of regulatory “expectation deficit.”

  • Identification of strategic regulatory issues and positions having potentially damaging or encumbering impact.

 Behavioral Assessments

  • Assessment of existing organization behavioral and cultural characteristics that may impact performance.

  • Establishment and reinforcement of behavioral and cultural elements supporting leadership and adaptability to change.

  • In situ observations of team or crew behaviors, working relationships, communication and interactions in the workplace.

  • Interviewing of management, supervisory and working level employees to determine behaviors and issues relating to performance, interpersonal skills
     and work environment.

 Resource Assessments

  •  Assessment of near – and long – term impact of downsizing/rightsizing upon financial and human resources.

  • Identification of “pinch points” in budgets and/or personnel development and succession planning that could lead to performance degradation.

  • Evaluation of adequacy of strategic plans to assure appropriate financial and human resources are available at each stage of goal and objective achievement.

  • Assessment of immediate and long – term financial health of organization and constituent departments/units.

  • Determination of financial consequences of various options, particularly in context of utility deregulation, as an aid to decision-making.

 Performance System Assessments

  • Assessment of organizational performance, including objectives, structure, process, systems, procedures, training, evaluation.

  • Assessment of team performance, based upon team goals, objectives, and behaviors.

  • Assessment of individual performance, based upon criteria derived from job-task analysis.

  • Evaluation of leadership, motivation, and communication drivers.

  • Evaluation of planning, goal-setting, and measurement processes.

  • Evaluation of command and control systems in terms of ability to manage outcomes.

 Organizational Assessments

  • Evaluation of planned modifications to organizational structure, particularly as part of downsizing/rightsizing, with regard to potential effectiveness in
    achieving strategic objectives.

  • Assessment of compatibility of skills and experience of proposed or incumbent managers/supervisors with respective job requirements.

  • Evaluation of planned revisions to position descriptions of managers/supervisors with regard to potential effectiveness in achieving operational objectives.

  • Evaluation of functions of managers/supervisors with regard to effectiveness in achieving current operational objectives.

 Our Approach

Regardless of the type of assessment, the particular approach we use is tailored to the needs of the client, and may include any of the following elements:

  • Assistance with scoping, including establishment of assessment goals, objectives (issues, programs, characteristics), and criteria.

  • Assistance with defining and communicating assessment goals and objectives.

  • Design and development of assessment plans.

  • Design and development of qualitative and quantitative assessment instruments.

  • Support for, or participation in, execution of assessment.

  • Review of findings and analysis of data resulting from assessment.

  • Developing corrective action plans and performance indicators.

  • Training of client personnel in corrective action implementation.

  • Facilitation of long-term improvement strategies.
