Curriculum Development Training and curriculum design/development Performance based training is highly focused training designed for specific job requirements. The PBT process originated as a result of defense department research and contracts to streamline the training process and direct the training effort at the specifics of the job the trainee is aspiring to. We were directly involved in the development of that process years ago. Over the past 20 years we have applied the PBT process to many industries. Performance Based Training is an integral part of the Compete Protect Perform model, and can be applied at each of the components as required by specific jobs. The integral nature of CPP and PBT is such that each represents a framework that is flexible and responsive. In the dynamic nature of today’s world it is important to know that there are models and tools that are proven and effective yet flexible and responsive. In addition to the models and frameworks it is perhaps more important that those using the models are highly experienced and knowledgeable. Computer Based and On-the-Job Training Computer Based Training (CBT) has demonstrated significant benefits as an instructional method. In the early days of CBT we designed, developed and implemented several CBT programs. To enrich the training experience, we integrated On-the-Job-Training modules with CBT. The combination of CBT and OJT training represents a potent instructional system by integrating knowledge and skill training. These provide a universally usable and interactive training system for a wide range of users at diverse locations. Once again, in the Compete Protect Perform context the combination of CBT and OJT is an instructional technology that when properly designed, enhances an organization’s ability to compete, protect and perform. |
