Workshops and Seminars

We have developed a series of workshops and seminars based on our research and a compilation of common needs and issues facing our clients.  We are developing new workshops continually and are able to address specific needs of new and existing clients.  For more information on our Teambuilding services please return to our home page and select Teambuilding.

Contextual Leadership Workshops

Contextual Leadership is a new way of thinking about leadership.  For years, leadership development and/or leadership training has been viewed and addressed in the sense of exploring what seemingly successful leaders or celebrity leaders do; learn from them, then go back to your workplace and attempt to interpolate what you learned to your situation.  If it works, that’s wonderful, but in reality what may have worked for a particular leader is not a recipe for universal success.  This ‘recipe concept’ along with the ongoing struggle to define leadership behaviors can only lead to disappointment; when all else fails, the default position is to fall back to the term ‘born leader.’  Please visit our Update newsletters for articles on Leadership.

Contextual leadership workshops are designed as a way to understand the dynamics of leadership and leadership responsibilities.  With the understanding of these dynamics and an awareness of how to maximize the tangibles, leaders can begin to understand how to successfully respond and lead their organizations.  For those who are selecting leaders (Boards of Directors, Human Resource Departments, etc.), knowing about Contextual Leadership and its dynamics can help them make better decisions and better predict the success of the person they select for such an important position.  Just think of the cost advantage of being able to better predict success of a senior corporate leader.

This workshop is grounded in research and designed for real world leaders. We have developed three applications of Contextual Leadership:

Contextual Leadership Workshop for Transitioning Leaders

This workshop is designed to help those senior individuals who are making a career transition and have been selected to assume leadership positions in industries or organizational cultures different from recent leadership positions they have held.  Examples might include senior military officers who will be transitioning to civilian corporate positions.

Contextual Leadership Workshop for Leadership Renewal

In more cases than leaders are willing to admit, many who have held their position for more than a few years experience burnout, feelings of being overwhelmed, need a sanity check about themselves and their leadership practices, or may need to renew their orientation because the context of their business has changed .  This workshop is for those individuals.

Contextual Leadership Dynamics Workshop

Contextual leadership dynamics is designed for mid-level managers who have been designated by their existing organization as high potential candidates.  This workshop should be part of any grooming or leadership development program, to provide assurances that those who will assume leadership positions in the future will be prepared to take on their leadership position, will be more effective in a shorter period of time, and will build a leadership culture within their organization.

Contextual Analysis Workshop

Contextual analysis involves the following eight components; Issues/Challenges, Situational Context, Contextual Parameters, Framework, Analytical Model, Risk Profile, Contextual Engine, Strategy/Action Plans/Performance.  Learning about each of the components is essential for conducting the contextual analysis.  This workshop works through the process by defining each component, how to apply each as part of the overall process and finally how the outcomes of the analysis are tailored and used via the contextual engines.  The contextual analysis is powerful and when used properly ensures that corrective methods and approaches are appropriate to the context rather than the existing tendency for universal applications that are either excessive or inadequate.

Culture Symposium

In the Compete Protect Perform world, understanding culture is absolutely necessary.  Before the CPP world, reference to culture in the organizational context was one-dimensional.  The issue then was organizational culture and how to address the issues within the organization.  Today, culture has become multi-dimensional and understanding the impact of a multi-dimensional culture is intrinsic to being successful as a competitor, being able to protect one’s company and to consistently perform and achieve excellence results.  This Symposium is designed to bring the topic of multi-dimensional culture to the forefront for discussion and awareness.

The symposium includes a series of provocative activities that will cover a variety of issues and illustrate how each topic relates to multi-dimensional culture.  The sessions are insightful, non-academic and educational.
